Day 1
Day 2
Symposium ( click for info). Connect with people who care about sustainability, spirituality and social justice, the biggest challenges and opportunities of our time. Our mission is bringing forth an environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling and socially just human presence on Planet Earth.
Day 3
Day 4
Sustainable agriculture is one of the key ingredients in making Cuba self sufficient in food and providing high quality food for its people using urban based organic agriculture. The use of fossil fuels for fertilizer as well as transportation, with the attendant greenhouse gases and pollution, are much reduced. Visits to farms, patios, and specialty gardens. Drive to Santiago de Cuba.
Day 5
Santeria - sustaining community belief. A mixture of African beliefs and 17th century Spanish Catholicism, Santeria informs all levels of Cuban life - music, dance, art, medicine, and social relationships. Tour leaders from the arts and medicine, Santeria practitioners. Visits to private altars and the Basilica of El Cobre.
Day 6
Sustainable forests and protection of the biosphere - a visit to spectacular cloud forests, small cafetals, and hidden gardens. Afternoon colloquium.
Day 7
Strategies for Change - what can you do to start a change. Small scale changes, spreading the word, changing to hope. Working lunch. Finale Dinner and Entertainment.
Day 8 - Free Day
Departure from Santiago. Connections to other cities and longer stays, further tours available.
Direct flights from Toronto to Santiago de Cuba are available through the winter.
One week charter flight from Toronto will connect with the activities of the tour. Space is limited - contact us early!
Other connections are available from many Canadian cities, Mexico, etc.
US citizens travel through a third country - Canada, Mexico, Jamaica, or Nassau. We arrange connecting flights to Cuba and internal flights and connections to Santiago de Cuba.
